The Media
American "news"media is almost universally detested by the right and left alike. The American right imagines the media to be "liberal" - which, for the most part, it is not, although it is culturally more liberal than most conservative Americans, accepting, for example, the right to an abortion. Politically and economically, however, most broadcast media in the US today is fascist - the opposite of liberal.
Fascism and democracy are mutually incompatible - which means that Americans need a reliable guide to the media landscape. To that end, we currently offer two resources: a history of American media, a topic that goes virtually without mention; and a media console - a sort of one-stop shop for more rational and reliable news and commentary, together with some resources for assessing the media and for making sense of the news.
To that end, we thought it would be great if a good world atlas was just a click away, for identifying the location of the news in question. And we also like the idea of media watchdog resources being conveniently available, along with links to some media from the world's leading countries, like Norway, Finland, and Japan.
Well, now those resources are available. A history of the US media is available here; while the media console may be seen here.
Forthcoming Media Resources
Since we're very excited about our new resource, we thought we'd repeat the exercise for more specialized media, such as economic news, or health-related news, so these will be forthcoming soon.
